SOWK 5213 - CLINICAL PRACTICE WITH SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS

This course introduces students to clinical practice with clients and families impacted by substance use disorders.  Topics include:  theories and evidence-based intervention strategies applicable to the diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders, common substances of abuse including their signs and symptoms, co-occurring disorders, the impact of addiction on the family, and the role of the clinical social worker in the prevention and intervention of substance use disorders.
