Bachelor of Science in Biology/PreMed

Students considering Biology/PreMed as a major will need to carefully consider career goals. Those students who plan a career in medicine must have a high grade point average and high scores on the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) or the appropriate admissions test for that field, to gain admission to medical school. It will be necessary for all Biology/PreMed majors to work closely with their academic advisors to ensure proper selection of the sequence of courses and appropriate electives for their chosen career path.

Bachelor of Science in General Biology

Students considering General Biology as a major will need to carefully consider career goals. Those students who plan a career in research must have a high grade point average and high scores on the GRE to gain admission to graduate school. Those planning a career in Biology immediately upon graduation will be best served by a broad background in each of the subspecialty areas of biology. It will be necessary for all Biology majors to work closely with their academic advisor in order to ensure proper selection of the correct sequence of courses and appropriate electives for their chosen career path.
