Program Description

The extension site Bachelor of Science in Worship Ministries degree program prepares students for worship ministry leadership in local church ministries through an interdisciplinary curriculum of courses in foundational core (i.e., English, psychology, math, science, etc.), Bible, theology, worship ministry, and worship ministry practicum. Students who complete this degree will be able to:

 

  1. Properly use hermeneutical tools to exegete and apply the Bible in ministry contexts
  2. Analyze and apply basic Christian theology in ministry contexts
  3. Use basic music theory and aural theory in the context of worship ministry
  4. Perform two instruments (guitar, piano, and/or voice) in the context of worship ministry
  5. Design and direct the creative elements of an entire service, including multimedia, music, dramatic elements, and the flow of a worship experience
  6. Lead worship teams and worship departments
  7. Construct worship songs that reflect Christian theological concepts and efficient musical structure
  8. Demonstrate basic knowledge in operating multimedia software and professional equipment (audio equipment and light equipment) for live and studio applications
  9. Integrate their biblical interpretation, theological, and worship competencies in ministry contexts

Applied Lessons - 6 Hours


Students will take 6 hours of applied lessons. MUAI 1121 Worship Guitar Applied Lesson, MUAK 1131 Worship Piano Applied Lesson, and MUAV 1141 Worship Voice Applied Lesson can each be repeated for credit up to 5 times. Students should take the majority of their applied lessons in the areas where they are weakest.

Ministry Practicum and General Electives - 16 Credit Hours


Extension Site/Regional Campus worship ministries students participate in on-site ministry practicums each semester and register for the PMIN 2442  Worship Ministry Practicum course that can be repeated for up to 16 hours of credit. These practicums count towards the general elective requirement.
