Extended Education Complaint Policies


Extension Site Complaint Policy

Students have the right to submit formal complains to both their extension site and SEU. Any complaints related to ministry expectations, classroom, and facilities should be directed to the Site Director. Any academic complaints, related to coursework and faculty, should be directed to the Senior Director, Center for Evening and Extension Education. Any and all complaints, which are not resolved by the local leadership, should be forward to the Senior Director. Academic appeals and grievances may also be directed to the Registrar’s Office in writing.

Listed below are additional complaint policies for the extended education programs categorized by states.

Maryland

If a student is currently living in Maryland and is enrolled in the online program, please be informed of the following complaint policies in addition to the main university Student Appeal and Complaint Policy :

The institution is subject to investigation of complaints by the Office of the Attorney General or the Maryland Higher Education Commission.  Complaints should be directed to:

Nevada

If a student is currently living in Nevada and is enrolled in the extension site program, please be informed of the following complaint policies in addition to the Extension Site Complaint Policy:

Prior to filing a complaint, you must attempt to resolve the issue with the school officials according to the policies of the school which you are attending. If you are unable to reach a solution, you may contact the Commission and we will attempt to resolve the issue.

If a resolution cannot be reached, you will be required to complete a formal complaint form; Formal complaints are investigated by staff and a decision by the administrator of the Commission. If either party does not agree with that decision, an appeal to the full Commission may be requested.

NRS 394.520 allows for the following:

  1. A full refund can be ordered if it is determined that the school substantially failed to furnish the education agreed to in the enrollment contract;
  2. One-half of all monies paid can be ordered if is determined that the school substantially furnished the education stated in the enrollment contract but the conditions were substandard to the point the student could not be expected to complete the training.

Virginia

If a student is currently living in Virginia and is enrolled in the extension site program, please be informed of the following complaint policies in addition to the Extension Site Complaint Policy:

As a last resort, students may submit their complaint to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Students will not be subject to unfair action or treatment by any school official as a result of filing a complaint.
