CRIM 3603 - Corrections and Punishment (WI) This course is an introduction to the corrections system in the United States and will provide an overview of the history, current institutional practices, policies, and legal issues. There is an emphasis on contemporary conditions and alternatives to traditional responses to crime and an exploration of the principles and practices of correctional options afforded to offenders in various types of settings. Topics covered include incarceration, deterrence, rehabilitation, retribution, and system reform.
