EDUC 5463 - HISTORY OF CLASSICAL EDUCATION

This course traces the evolution of education throughout history, with a particular focus on the perspective of Western Christendom. It explores the contributions of notable historical figures, from Quintilian and Augustine to pre-modern writers such as Comenius and Milton, and how their ideas impact contemporary education, exemplified by the work of Dorothy Sayers. It highlights the movement’s dialogue between the past and present to rescue classical education.
