LANG 1023 - GREEK I: GRAMMAR & TEXTS

The Greek alphabet and the pronunciation of classical and Hellenistic Greek are introduced straightaway. The declension of nouns and adjectives and the conjugation of regular verbs are studied systematically. Vocabulary lists are introduced in each lesson and are reinforced by the translation of both Greek-to-English and English-to-Greek sentences. By the end of the semester, the readings in the lesson are centered on unaltered passages of Greek set texts; thus, a serious literary text is the basis of study from the very first course.
