LANG 2053 - LATIN IV: ADVANCED TEXTS B

The entire semester is employed in the reading of selections from Augustine’s Confessions to enable the student to acquire the faculty to translate and comprehend Latin prose. The Latin forms and syntax in the text continue to be scrutinized so that the basic understanding of the language is habitually reinforced. Augustine’s abundant use of standard classical rhetorical devices provides the opportunity for concentrated attention to the formal aspects of Latin style.
