Mission
The Southeastern University School of Music is committed to providing its students with a Christ-centered learning environment that focuses on preparing them for graduate studies in music as well as professional careers in the music field.
Drawing on the breadth and depth of expertise provided by our faculty, the School of Music offers exposure to and training in several genres and styles of music, including Western classical art music, jazz, modern pop/rock music, traditional and contemporary worship music, and music from cultures around the world. In this it is our aim to 1) provide students with a greater awareness of the possibilities of careers within music, 2) connect seemingly disparate styles and cultures of music into a deeper yet functional understanding of the purpose of music, and 3) lead students to a greater appreciation of God’s creativity and goodness through music.
We take seriously our responsibility, in Christ, to foster each student’s God-given talents and gifts. Through the integration of faith and learning, it is our desire and purpose to encourage our students and assist them in realizing the call of God in their lives.
