The Criminal Justice program prepares graduates for careers that can have a positive impact for those who have made mistakes in their lives. The curriculum focuses on definitions, causation, prevention, legal processes, and the treatment or rehabilitation of criminals in our society. Career opportunities in criminal justice include the broad areas of law enforcement, corrections, judicial and justice system, and juvenile delinquency. Southeastern University’s Criminal Justice major with a Leadership Concentration is specifically designed around shiftwork responsibilities, and academically concentrated on what is important to serve their office or department. This program is designed to take maximum advantage of students’ previous classroom and experiential learning. Students who complete the Criminal Justice major with a Leadership Concentration will be able to:
- Explain the principles underlying the functions of the criminal justice system and its relationship to society at large.
- Think clearly, independently, and critically about the fundamental issues in criminal justice.
- Discuss how Judeo-Christian values influence the criminal justice system.
- Avail themselves of further educational opportunities and advancement options.
