General Biology, Bachelor of Science, Four Year Plan


Note: 

Biology Specialization Courses include Microbiology BIOL 4013 (lecture with lab), Developmental Anatomy BIOL 4133 (lecture with lab), Botany NSCI 1433 (lecture with lab, Invertebrate & Vertebrate Diversity NSCI 2433 (lecture with lab), Animal  hysiology and Molecular Biology NSCI 3003, Ecology NSCI 3333 (lecture with lab). Special Topics in Biology BIOL 4633 (can be taken twice for two different topics for credit.) A MINIMUM of 18 hours of Biology Specialization is required.  
 

Department of Natural Sciences Guidelines and Policies:

● Students MUST attend mandatory department advising meetings at the beginning of each semester and students are strongly advised to meet with their academic advisor at least once during the semester.

● All science labs must be taken concurrently with the science lecture courses.

●Students are required to earn a grade of “C-” or better in all Biology, Chemistry, Math and Physics courses.​

● A student desiring to complete a major in General Biology must complete all courses with a “C-” or better.

Freshman Year


Students who meet the following criteria can enroll in Calculus I and General Chemistry I

Math:

  • A final grade of A in a high school Precalculus class AND

  • Either a 670 or higher on the SAT math or 29 or better on the ACT math subscore.

*Students who have taken high school or college PreCalculus Algebra and Trigonometry must consult with the advisor.

 

Chemistry:

  • A final grade of C- or higher in Pre-Calculus (MATH 1413) OR

  • One year of High School Chemistry AND a raw score of 36 on the Chemistry Placement Exam

*SEU will administer the chemistry placement exam to test students’ readiness for Gen. Chem.
