Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry (Four-Year Plan)  

 

Students may enroll for two different special topics courses for a total of 6 hours only to count toward the required 12 hours of Biochemistry specialization. (BIOL 4633, BIOL 4643, BIOL 4653, CHEM 4003, CHEM 4013, & CHEM 4023 Special Topics in Biology or Current Topics in Chemistry).

Department of Natural Sciences Guidelines and Policies:

1. Students are required to earn a grade of “C-” or better in all Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics courses.​

2. Students must complete all of the Pre-Biology Core courses at Southeastern University or elsewhere with a C minus or higher to continue in this major.

3. A student who does not complete MATH 2144 Calculus I by the end of the Sophomore year (4th semester) with a grade of C minus or higher at Southeastern University or elsewhere, whether repeated or not, will not be permitted to continue in the major.

4. A student who has accumulated three (3) or more grades below C minus (including grades of WF) in any of the following Math courses (MATH 1414, MATH 2023, MATH 2144, or MATH 2244) or Chemistry courses (CHEM 1533, CHEM 1633, CHEM 2133 or CHEM 2134) taken for college credit at Southeastern University or elsewhere will not be permitted to continue in the major.

Engaging Human Culture and the Natural World - 19 Credit Hours


Behavioral Science, Select One (1) - 3 Credit Hours


Pre-Biochemistry Core - 20 Credit Hours


Major Core - 54 Credit Hours


Biochemistry Research - 3 Credit Hours


Total Credit Hours - 120
