Program Description

The Digital Media & Design program emphasizes the principles and best practices of digital media and digital design. The digital media core focuses on visual communication and digital marketing. The digital design core includes various courses related to color theory, typography, digital art and design, web development, and digital illustration. Students also select a digital media and design elective (including a study abroad opportunity). Students critically analyze and produce various digital designs, including websites, logos, photography projects, UI/UX design projects, and digital illustrations.

Potential Career Options

Potential career options for those pursuing this degree include graphic designer, digital designer, UI/UX designer, digital content writer, web designer, photo retouching specialist, creative director, art director, layout designer, digital marketer, advertising designer, digital illustrator, and other digital design-related careers.

*Note:  Students taking courses online outside of the State of Florida may be subject to additional Foundational Core requirements for degree completion.  State-specific requirements are specified in the SEU Catalog.  Your Academic Advisor is available to help integrate these additional courses into your plan.

Socio-Historical Inquiry- Select Two (2) of the Following (6 Credit Hours):


Creative-Aesthetic Inquiry - Select One (1) of the Following (3 Credit Hours):


Major Core - 42 Credit Hours


Digital Media and Design Elective - Select One (1) of the following (3 Credits):


Divine Design (Major Specific Experiential Learning) - 1 Credit Hour


Divine Design - 43 Credit Hours


To meet the Divine Design requirement, students may earn credit hours in general elective courses, declared minors/certificates, or enjoy other experiential learning opportunities such as study abroad, internships, or practicums. Other practicum options include  (1 credit hour),   (2 credit hours),   (3 credit hours),   (4 credit hours), up to 24 credit hours. General Electives are any college-level course that does not satisfy the above program requirements. Students must complete the above program requirements with the remaining credit hours earned in the Divine Design to meet the total program hours.

*Note: Students taking courses online/at an SEU partner site outside of the State of Florida may be subject to additional Foundational Core requirements for degree completion. Some of these requirements are built into your Foundational Core listed above.  Any of the requirements listed below that are not incorporated into the Foundational Core will count towards your Divine Design hours.  State-specific requirements are also specified in the SEU Catalog. Please see your Degree Audit in JICS and work with your Academic Advisor to ensure these requirements are met.
