Bachelor of Arts, Music: Four-Year Plan  

You must pass all Music Department courses with a C- or higher.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music at Southeastern University is a versatile degree designed for students seeking a broad-based education in music within a liberal arts framework. This program emphasizes musical proficiency, critical thinking, and creative expression, while allowing students the flexibility to pursue additional interests through elective coursework or a minor.

Students in the BA in Music program receive foundational training in music theory, ear training, music history, and performance. Applied lessons and ensemble participation are integral parts of the curriculum, fostering individual artistry and collaborative skills. The degree also includes a strong emphasis on written and oral communication, preparing students for diverse careers or graduate study in music and related fields.

Ideal for students interested in combining music with other disciplines—such as business, ministry, education, or the arts—the BA in Music provides a well-rounded academic experience within a supportive and faith-centered community.

Creative-Aesthetic Inquiry - Select (1) One of the the Following: (3 Credit Hours)


Large Ensemble (6 Credit Hours):


Six semesters of at least one ensemble

Applied Lessons (8 Credit Hours)


Four at 1000 Level, and Three at 3000 Level; Two-Credits During Recital Semester

Divine Design - 37 Credit Hours


To meet the Divine Design requirement, students may earn credit hours in general elective courses, declared minors/certificates, or enjoy other experiential learning opportunities such as study abroad, internships, or practicums. Other practicum options include PRAC 1001  (1 credit hour), PRAC 1002   (2 credit hours), PRAC 1003   (3 credit hours), PRAC 1004   (4 credit hours), up to 24 credit hours. General Electives are any college-level course that does not satisfy the above program requirements. Students must complete the above program requirements with the remaining credit hours earned in the Divine Design to meet the total program hours.
