Modern techniques and methods of teaching mathematics in secondary schools (6 – 12) are presented. Special emphasis is placed on the developmental nature of a mathematics program, on concepts rather than process, on long and short-range planning, on independent thinking, and on developing an understanding of the number system. Application of theoretical understanding and skills is achieved through micro-teaching lessons. This course includes field-based experiences.
