SOWK 5613 - Psychopharmacology: Practice Through the Lifespan This course is designed to familiarize students with the basics of psychopharmacology in behavioral health and medical settings through the lifespan. Theoretical and practical approaches to treatment of depression, bipolar and related disorders, anxiety, insomnia, attention deficit, psychosis, and trauma-related disorders are examined with the goal of advancing students’ knowledge of best practices that complement current evidence-based interventions. Emphasis will be placed on the development of a range of knowledge, practice techniques, and intervention strategies in collaboration with patients, families, psychiatrists, and other providers in order for social workers to fully participate as members of the multidisciplinary treatment team and be responsive to the needs of their patients.
