CHEM 2133 - ORGANIC CHEMISTRY I Organic Chemistry is the study of the structure and reactivity of carbon and its compounds. Compounds are grouped according to structure, using a functional group approach. Reactions are organized according to similarities in mechanism, with an emphasis on electron flow. This includes the chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, halogenated hydrocarbons, free radicals, and alcohols. Infrared, NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry are also covered.
Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: CHEM 1633 , CHEM 163L &MATH 2144
Corequisite: CHEM 213L
