Program Overview
This 36 hour degree provides foundational biblical, theological and practical training for those presently involved in or pursuing Christian service in different ministry contexts. Various concentrations are offered according to student interests and field-related needs and opportunities. The program may be taken in a variety of delivery formats including online, evening, hybrid and cohort models.
The structure and curriculum of this program is designed to lead the student to:
- Integrate the practice of leadership with biblically informed values.
- Demonstrate collaborative and effective problem-solving skills using multidisciplinary approaches.
- Apply acquired multidisciplinary concepts, skills and principles to actual leadership situations.
- Analyze and synthesize knowledge of leadership models, human development, and communication theories into effective systems of praxis.
- Research contemporary issues in leadership to provide practical solutions, and communicate results through clear, concise and appropriate media.

Major Core Courses - 18 Hours

Must choose either the Ministerial Leadership Core or the Church Planting Concentration.
Ministerial Leadership Concentration - 18 Hours
The Ministerial Leadership concentration includes the key organizational leadership elements of ethics, motivation, creativity, vision, strategic planning, and organizational development. Through the use of collaborative learning and application-based knowledge, students will:
- Integrate the Christian faith and learning through critical thinking, research, writing and learning from the normative base of a Christian worldview.
- Develop and exchange concepts relating to understanding and improving organizations around the world.
- Experience innovative learning situations, which enable students to acquire the knowledge, dispositions and abilities required of organizational leaders.
Church Planting Concentration Courses - 18 Hours
The Church Planting concentration includes a wide range of topics and creative educational options for those interested in planting and leading thriving churches. Students will have the opportunity to learn on-site in several effective church-plant contexts and to receive instruction from leaders with proven success in the field.
Through the use of collaborative learning and application-based knowledge, students will:
- Explore the unique contexts and aspects of present church-plant campuses in a variety of locations across the country
- Assimilate practical insights gleaned through the instruction of SEU professors, special lectures by successful church planters, and peer interaction.
- Experience the special camaraderie and transformational environment present when learning in a cohort model alongside others with similar ministry pursuits.
Bible Elective - 3 Hours
