Program Description

The Master of Arts in Global Ministry Design – Emerging Leadership track is a 30 hour degree program that stresses the application of biblical, theological, ministerial, and leadership principles to the design of innovative ministries in global missional communities. Students will complete 7 required core courses in order to orient them to global ministry design. These courses cover the biblical, theological, cultural, and strategic leadership foundations necessary for ministry leadership in the 21st century. The final 3 courses focus on leadership skills necessary for the design, development, and success of emerging leaders. Students who complete this degree program will be able to:

 

  1. Comprehend that fruitfulness is the demand of all ministry leadership.
  2. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the growing challenge and increasing opportunity of ministry leadership in the dynamic, global 21st context into which they design ministry that includes: 
    • An understanding of what networks and movements are and why they are important
    • The importance of the city in a global context
    • Missiological trends shaping the landscape of global ministry
  3. Engage in theological thinking in ministry design and practice, including: 
    • Understanding how designing ministry for a 21st global context fits within the mission of God, recognizing that the emerging needs of contemporary ministry leadership requires an interdisciplinary approach
    • Seeing how using design practices integrally (rather incidentally) flows from Scripture
    • Understanding how to approach complex cultural issues with theological wisdom and nuance
  4. Acquire an increased competency and skill in the design process, including insights from:
    • Entrepreneurial leadership
    • Innovation
    • Action Research
    • Strategy 
  5. Conceptualize Ministry Leadership as an Interdisciplinary Practice, including:
    • How to approach broad reading/research
    • How to know when you’ve found something good

 

The maximum number of C grades allowed in a graduate program is two and the minimum GPA requirement is a 3.0. Grades of less than C- will not be counted toward degree completion.
