Associate of Arts, General Education Two-Year Course Plan
The Associate of Arts (AA) degree includes the core learning components and competencies commonly accepted as foundational for a four-year baccalaureate degree by many colleges and universities. The AA degree is designed for students who desire recognition for completing the two-year prescribed curriculum. Because many bachelor’s degrees require specific prerequisites, students should verify how their AA degree and classes transfer into the intended degree. Graduates with the Associate of Arts degree will be able to:
Demonstrate basic knowledge of the biblical basis of Christian theology, the history of Christian traditions, and the various expressions of global Christianity.

Articulate a biblically-based statement of Christian identity as it relates to theology, ethics, habits and practices, and vocation.

Apply critical consideration of ethical principles and actions to their lived experiences as Christians.

Demonstrate intellectual and practical fluency in the stewardship of God’s creation, including their own health & wellness, personal & family finances, civic engagement, and the environment.

Engage with diverse populations and belief systems.

Demonstrate the ability to reason and develop evidence-based decisions using numerical information and to use relevant mathematical and logical methods to analyze and solve problems effectively.

Demonstrate information literacy and critical thinking by locating and evaluating information that assists them in examining ideas and evidence before formulating an opinion or conclusion.

Demonstrate effective written and oral communication with and response to varied audiences.

Participate in the discourse of human cultures and their expression in the humanities (e.g. arts, history, literature).

Evaluate the relationship between the Christian faith and the sciences (natural, behavioral, and social) and their approaches to understanding and resolving unanswered questions.
*Note: Students taking courses online outside of the State of Florida may be subject to additional Foundational Core requirements for degree completion. State-specific requirements are specified in the SEU Catalog. Your Academic Advisor is available to help integrate these additional courses into your plan.

Divine Design - 35 Credit Hours
General Electives are any college-level courses that do not satisfy specific program requirements. To meet the Divine Design core requirements, students may declare minors, enroll in elective credit, and enjoy experiential learning like study abroad, internships, or practicum. Practicum course options include PRAC 1001 (1 hr), PRAC 1002 (2 hrs), PRAC 1003 (3 hrs), PRAC 1004 (4 hrs). Students may earn up to 12 credit hours toward their degree program through experiential learning practicum.
Additional State Requirements for Online or Partner Site Students
*Note: Students taking courses online/at an SEU partner site outside of the State of Florida may be subject to additional Foundational Core requirements for degree completion. Some of these requirements are built into your Foundational Core listed above. Any of the requirements listed below that are not incorporated into the Foundational Core will count towards your Divine Design hours. State-specific requirements are also specified in the SEU Catalog. Please see your Degree Audit in JICS and work with your Academic Advisor to ensure these requirements are met.
Area I, Written Composition - 6 Credit Hours

Science
Select one course not taken in Foundational Core
Social/Behavioral Sciences
Maryland
Maryland students need an additional six credit hours in one or more of the following five areas: (i) Arts and humanities; (ii) English composition; (iii) Social and behavioral sciences; (iv) Mathematics; and (v) Biological and physical sciences.
Montana
Montana requires 6 credit hours of natural science with a laboratory experience. Students may choose to take BIOL 1334 to complete the requirement or any other science course to meet the credit hour requirement.
Nevada
3 credit hours needed. The Socio-Historical requirement must be fulfilled by taking PPOL 2433 or by earning credit for one of the following combinations of classes from an accredited Nevada college: 1) HIST 100, 2) PCS 101, 3) HIST 101 and HIST 102, or 4) or HIST 101 and 217.
Ohio
Ohio students need an additional two credit hours in one or more of the following areas: Oral and Written Communication, Mathematics, Statistics and Logic, Arts, Humanities, Culture and Diversity, Natural Sciences, Technology and Innovation.
Oklahoma
In addition to the courses listed below, Oklahoma students need an additional 7 credit hours in one ore more of the following: History, Social Science, Behavioral Science, Humanities, Math, Natural Science, Language, or Fine Arts.
