Master of Science, Pastoral Care and Counseling (Online) One Year Plan  

Program Description:

This program will focus on equipping those in ministry to help the increasing number of hurting, distressed and depressed people in our churches and beyond, who need to be helped through Bible-based counseling and pastoral care to spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental wholeness. The overarching aim of this program of study is to equip and empower persons who have a passion for pastoral care and feel called to the ministry of offering emotional support and counseling, and in particular, Church leaders who are strategically placed to counsel and give support as an integral part of their ministry. 

 

The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0. Grades of less than C- will not be counted toward degree completion.

 

Program Objectives:

  1. Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of Bible-based counseling and pastoral care utilizing proven biblical and psychological methods. 

  2. Students will demonstrate working knowledge of basic psychological theories and principles to be applied to pastoral care and counseling practices.

  3. Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of the best practices needed to help individuals and themselves. 

  4. Students will integrate their ministry setting context with their general understanding of pastoral care and counseling. 

  5. Professional Development - Students will apply qualities of professionalism and preparedness in pastoral care and counseling in their respective ministry or faith-based setting. 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Written essay describing the current and future impact of your faith in your personal and professional life and the reason for your desire to pursue this degree.

  • Proof of a minimum GPA of 3.0 earned from a regionally accredited institution

  • Official college transcripts

  • Professional, Academic, or Christian Character Reference

Pastoral Care and Counseling Practicum - 6 Hours


Total Program Hours - 36 Credit Hours
