Program Description
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is designed to equip students with the in-depth knowledge and practical experience to excel as professional nurses and serve patients with Christ-like compassion. It is intended for students who are seeking their first professional nursing degree or license and who wish to experience hands-on learning in direct patient care, leadership, and clinical practice. Graduates of the program are prepared to sit for their National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse prepared for roles such as Acute Care in the Hospital setting, Unit Manager, Travel Nurse, Clinical Instructor, Community Health, and public health policy. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on clinical training and face-to-face interaction with dedicated, experienced faith-filled nursing faculty, who facilitate opportunities for practicum hours with a licensed nurse, simulation training in a state-of-the-art lab, and an end of program Capstone Presentation. The degree requires a total of 120 credit hours, of which 34 hours are in the foundational core, 68 hours are in the major core, and 18 hours are Divine Design Major Specific Experiential credit hours including experience in a variety of specific clinical hours. For students wishing to continue their studies, this program prepares them for future graduate or professional study in advanced practice nursing (such as MSN or DNP degrees) and healthcare administration. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Southeastern University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
