Program Description
The Master of Science (M.S.) in Nursing (MSN) - Nursing Education Concentration program is designed to prepare nurses to enhance their professional practice and teach in either an academic or healthcare setting. It is intended for students who are seeking opportunities in nursing education and who wish to gain expertise in teaching strategies, curriculum design, and Spirit-empowered ethical practice. Graduates of the program are prepared for roles such as Nurse Educator (Academic), Clinical Nurse Instructor, Staff Development Specialist, or Patient Education Coordinator in settings including universities, community colleges, hospitals, and community health organizations. The curriculum emphasizes integrating research, leadership skills, and Christian values into teaching practice with opportunities for personalized direction and support from experienced faculty, and at least 140 practicum hours including 20 hours of specialized coursework. The degree requires a total of 32 semester hours, of which 12 hours are in the MSN core curriculum and 20 hours are in the Nursing Education concentration coursework. For students wishing to continue their studies, this program prepares them for future professional development through Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Ph.D. programs that lead to executive leadership or advanced research roles in nursing education.
