Program-Specific Admission/Entrance Requirements
An essay on the topic, “Why I want to pursue my master’s degree at Southeastern University.” Address how the Master of Education will help you improve your current/future career and how you can integrate your Christian faith. This essay should be two to three pages long, include your full name, and use 12-point, Times New Roman font. It should be double-spaced with one-inch margins.
A completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with evidence of one of the following:
a minimum GPA of 3.0
a combined score of at least 300 on the Verbal and Quantitative sections of the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) and a 4.0 or higher on the Analytical Writing section of the GRE. GRE scores must be within the past 5 years. (If you took the GRE before August of 2011, the combined score must be at least 1,000 on the Verbal and Quantitative sections.)
Proof of three years of experience as an educator
The two most recent teacher performances at the effective or highly effective level
Resume
For non-native English speakers, a current TOEFL score at the mean level or higher.

Professional Reference from Principal or Assistant Principal
Personal Reference
Signed form of agreement to certify acknowledgement and compliance with SEU graduate policies, procedures, and regulations, including the sexual harassment policy.

Program Description
Lead toward positive change in educational settings and build the foundation to successfully transition into school leadership as a principal or assistant principal. The MEd in Educational Leadership is a 30 credit-hour, Level I, state approved program that can lead master teachers to certification in Educational Leadership. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS) related to policy-making, school finance, curriculum development, conflict resolution, school law, and personnel management. The MEEL is designed to help students discover a variety of leadership approaches to cultivate a thriving educational community. Through an academically rigorous, yet flexible online format, you'll explore various topics that are critical to effective standards based, academic administration, including: Defining, planning, implementing, and analyzing K–12 curricula Examining various instructional strategies Adult learning theories, behaviors, supervisory models, tasks and skills, along with strategies for continuous improvement The issues and opportunities surrounding academic administrators such as authoritative, delegative, participative, and servant leadership Effective written and verbal communication, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills Human resources management Student evaluation and achievement How to plan and manage functions of a school, such as budgeting, purchasing, records management, maintenance, and technology application Legal principles and interpretations of constitutional and statutory laws that affect teachers' rights, as well as student legal rights and the ethical parameters of educational leadership This program also requires you to complete a supervised practicum, which will allow you to apply educational theory and practice to real-world leadership experiences.
