Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program is designed to enhance a student's problem-solving, logical thinking, and analytical skills and provide knowledge of a universal language that influences nearly every career. It is intended for students who are seeking a versatile, highly valued degree and who wish to gain expertise in applying abstract mathematical concepts to real-world problems. Graduates of the program are prepared for roles such as Actuary, Data Scientist, Software Engineer, Mathematician, or Market Research Analyst in industries including finance, engineering, communications, sciences, technology, and manufacturing. The curriculum emphasizes logical thinking and creative analytical skills with opportunities for independent research projects on topics of interest, department-wide feedback on major projects, and a Capstone Project. The degree requires a total of 120 credit hours, of which 34 hours are in the foundational core, 49 hours are in the major core, and 37 hours are Divine Design elective credit hours. For students wishing to continue their studies, this program prepares them for future graduate or professional study in Biostatistics, Actuarial Science, engineering, business, medical areas, or University Professor/Researcher roles.
